What's Up For Summer

Many parents have enquired about summer programs.  Several opportunities exist in Hudson for children of all ages.  As we receive information, we will pass it on.

Summer Reading Program at Hudson Area Library

Flyers will be sent home regarding the library's summer reading and activity program. Registration for this program is Tuesday, July 1st. Events will be held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:30 - 3:30 p.m. during the month of July. The program is for children 3 to 10. Children should be accompanied by an adult.

Oakdale Summer Camp

Registration forms for Oakdale's Summer Camp are available in the school office. This program runs from July 7th - August 15th.  Swimming lessons will be provided free to residents of the City of Hudson, with non-residents being charged $60.  Free breakfast and lunch are offered to those aged 18 and under.

Transportation to camp has been extended to four stops: JLE, 2nd and State, Front and Warren, and 4th and Union.

Daily activities include a variety of sports, arts and crafts, reading programs, daily supervised swimming, trips, and a variety of outreach programs from various organizations throughout the community.  The structure of the program now labels this program a camp. Parents will have to provide a copy of their child's immunizations records.

Registration has begun and can be done at the Hudson Youth Department Monday-Friday from 8:30 - 5:00 p.m. The camp is free to all residents of Hudson. Non residents may attend for $100 for all six weeks.

Livingston Summer Recreation Program

The Livingston Summer Recreation Program runs from July 7th - August 15th at the Livingston Recreation Park.  The program is for children ages 5 to 13 and operates daily from 9:00 - 3:00. It is free for Livingston residents. All others pay $50.  Applications are available at the Livingston Town Hall or by calling 851-9441, extension 10.

Can You Feel the Heat?

We sure can, and the prediction for the next week is not encouraging. While some like it HOT!, these last few weeks at school can often be tricky.  Our school seems to generate the storage of heat, so as time goes on, it gets warmer, to say the least.  We are coolest in the early hours, so the teachers try to get their main academic work done early. If your child is late, they may miss that important part of the day.  There are still 14 days left of school and your child should be here.

We emphasize again, the need for safe shoes. Flip flops are extremely dangerous and are an accident waiting to happen.  Students must have a shoe with a back, or in the case of sandals, a strap in the back that will help hold their shoe on.  Additionally, belly shirts and halter tops are not allowed, and skirts must be of an appropriate length.
