Scholarships

Columbia County Association of Town Superintendents Scholarship:  applicants must be a resident of Columbia County at least 2 years prior to graduation and must have been accepted by an accredited college int the field of Engineering or the Physical Sciences.  Preference will be given to students who enter the field of Civil Engineering.  Applications are available in Guidance.  Deadline to Guidance is April 25, 2018.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Scholarship:  must be attending college in the fall of 2018 and have a 75 G.P. A or greater.  Applications are available in Guidance.  Must be postmarked by March 19, 2018.

Paul and Maria Morra Scholarship Trust:  must be a current resident of Columbia or Greene County, must be attending college/trade school in the fall of 2018, and must be pursuing further academic work in the field of horticulture, agriculture, forestry or natural resources.  Applications are available in Guidance.  Deadline to Guidance is March 19, 2018.

Hoffman Scholarship:  must have 6 months of service with Hoffman Car Wash/Jiffy Lube and a minimum of 312 hours of time worked prior to the application deadline date, employees must be planning to be enrolled in college/trade school for the fall of 2018 either full or part time, applicants must have a 2.5 (80 >) G.P.A, and must continue to be employed by the company at the time of the award payment.  Applications are available in Guidance.  Deadline is March 30, 2018.

HMRRC/Bill Shrader Sr. Memorial Scholarship:  must have participated in track or cross-country at their current school, plan to attend on a full-time basis a college, university, or community college, and plan to continue to participate in track or cross-country.  Applications are available in Guidance.  Deadline to return to Guidance is March 28, 2018.

CGFCU Statewide Scholarship:  must be a member in good standing of a participating NY credit union, and attending college in the fall.  Applications are available in Guidance.  Deadline for application to be submitted to the credit union is January 5, 2018.

Micah 6:8 Student Award:  must be a graduating senior, must live the ideals expressed in the verse Micah 6:8, and must be a member of a faith community which is part of the Hudson Interfaith Council (Shiloh, State Street AME Zion, St. Mary's, Rock Solid, First Presbyterian, Christ Church Episcopal, Trinity United Methodist, 1st Reformed, Overcomers Ministry, and Endless Love Temple).  Applications are available in Guidance.  Deadline to Guidance is January 2, 2018.

The Alice & Murray Giddings Foundation Scholarship:  to be eligible for this scholarship, high school seniors must have an 85 and above G.P.A.  Applications are available in Guidance.  Deadline to Guidance is February 16.  

2018 PDK Prospective Educator Scholarship:  for high school seniors who intend to attend college and major in education.  Applications are available in Guidance.  Deadline to the PDK Chapter Representative is March 1, 2018.

Ned Carter Memorial Scholarship:  eligible for high school seniors who will be attending a 2 or 4 year college in the fall, and applicant must be related to a firefighter, be a firefighter, or be an Explorer in a fire department or fire district that is currently a paid up member of the Association of Fire Distircts of the State of New York.  Applications are available in Guidance.  Application must be postmarked no later than February 24, 2018.  

Gerard J. Buckenmeyer FASNY Volunteer Scholarship:   applicant must be a member in good standing with the FASNY or have a parent/legal guardian who is a member, must be attending a 2 or 4 year college in the fall, serve as a current Junior firefighter, Explorer Scout or RAM in a group affiliated with a volunteer department; a volunteer firefighter; or a volunteer with an EMS unit, and demonstrate a commitment to both volunteer emergency service and the community.  Applications are available in Guidance.  Applications must be postmarked by March 15, 2018.

Ron Brown Scholar Program:  to be eligible you must be a US citizen, current high school senior, Black/African American, and you should demonstrate academic achievement, exhibit leadership ability, participate in community service activities and have a demonstrated financial need.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Deadline to apply is November 1 (for early consideration) and January 9 (final deadline).

WACE Scholarship:  must be a high school senior, have a 3.5 G.P.A ((90>), and be applying to one of the WACE Partner Instiitutions (Clarkson University, Derexel University, Merrimack College, Rochester Institute of Technology, SUNY Oswego, The University of Toledo, University of Cincinnati, University of Massachusetts Lowell, or Wentworth Institute of Technology).  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Application deadline is February 15, 2018 (postmarked).  The deadlines are different for Clarkson, Drexel, Merrimack, Oswego, and the University of Massachusetts Lowell).

Excellence in Nursing Scholarship:  must be a senior at a high school in Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster, or Westchester counties and plan to pursue a career in Nursing.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Applications must be postmarked by February 9, 2018.

 

Online Scholarships

2018 Student-View Scholarship Program:  it's quick and easy to apply - NO minimum SAT/ACT scores or G.P.A, NO essay, NO lengthy application forms, No application fees.  Log on to www.student-view.com and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your area.  Deadline is April 22, 2018.

Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarship:  for any high school Junior (Class of 2019) who resides in the US and is playing for a high school team or in club sports.  Apply on-line at www.positivecoach.org/scholarships.  Deadline to apply is May 31, 2018.

Farm Credit East, ACA Scholarship:  must be attending college in the Fall of 2018 leading to a career in agriculture, commercial fishing or the forest products, industry.  You can apply on-line at www.FarmCreditEast.com/Scholarship.  All applications and essays must be submitted by April 4, 2018.

Rover's College Scholarship:  must be a US resident, a high school senior, have an 83 overall GPA or greater, and not be related to anyone on staff at Rover.com.  This is an essay of 400-+500 words responding to the quesiton:  Has technology caused you to feel more included in your community , or excluded? Let us know your thoughts, feelings, ideas, and personal accounts of how technology has influenced you.  in what ways has technology helped or hindered your social, academic, or professional life?  To apply go to www.rover.com/college-scholarship. Deadline to apply is May 1, 2018.

Berkshire Band Foundation Scholarship:  must be a high school senior, have a minimum G.P.A of 3.0 (83 >), gross family annual income under $100,000, plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college or technical school, and have a record of community service.  Apply on-line at berkshirebank.com/scholarships.  Deadline to apply is March 21, 2018 at 4:00pm.

The New York Water Environment Association Scholarship:  there are 5 scholarships being offered; 3 of them you must be pursuing an environmentally reltated program - Scholarship-Children of NYWEA Members, Scholarship-NYWEA Student Members, and Scholarship-High School Students Pursuing Environmental Studies.  2 of them you must be, and remain, a NYS resident, enrolled in a college/university for the fall, and must be enrolling in, and graduate from, a BS or BE full-time program with a focus on environmental issues, such as but not limited to,Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering with an environmental minor, Chemical Engineering with an environmental minor, Hydrogeology with an environmental minor, or Biology or Microbiology with an environmental emphasis; Environmental Career Scholarship and Nicholas J. Bartilucci Scholarship.  To apply go to www.nywea.org/scholarship.  Deadline to apply is February 28, 2018.

The Amy Bindelglass Memorial Scholarship:  must be a high school Junior or Senior.  Write a persuasive essay  explaining three myths surrounding organ, eye and tissue donation.  Essay must be no more than 750 words. An information pamphlet is available in Guidance.  Essays must be submitted as Word or PDF and sent to skaye@cdtny.org.  Must be emailed by the end of the day on Friday, March 30, 2018.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship:  Eligibility requirements - must be a graduating high school senior, plan to attend an accredited and approved 4 year college within the U.S., show leadership potential, demonstrate a dedication to community service, present evidence of financial need, be a U.S. citizen, have a minimum SAT score of 1,000 (math/critical reading combined) or a composite ACT score of 21. More information is available in Guidance but to apply you must go to www.jackierobinson.org/apply/applicants.  Deadline to apply is February 1, 2018.  

Elks Legacy Awards:  must be a child, grandchild, step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2015, or a character member of a Lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2015.  The Elk member must also be a paid-up member through March 31, 2018.  Great-grandchildren are not eligible.  Applicant must be a high school senior, must take the SAT or ACT by December 31, 2017.  Apply on-line at www.enf.elks.org/leg.  Deadline to apply is February 2, 2018.

Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship Contest:  ANY high school senior who is a US Citizen may apply and applicant must take either the SAT or ACT on or before November 4, 2017.  Apply on-line at www.enf.elks.org/mvs.  Deadline to apply is November 27, 2017.

The Horatio Alger Scholarship:  must be a high school senior in the US, plan to attend college in the Fall of 2018, exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor's degree, demonstrate financial need, be involved in co-curricular and community service activities, display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, and have a 2.0 G.P..A (73>).  To apply go to scholars.horatioalger.org.  Applications deadline is October 25, 2017.

2018 Albany Regional Brain Bee Competition:  anyone aged 13-19 can compete regardless of their academic standing.  The competition tests high school students in neuroscientific skill through examination in academic knowledge, as well as neuroanatomical, neurohistological, MRI, and patient diagnosis applications.  One of the Top 10 from 2017 was one of our own, Kayleigh McCagg.  For more information visit:  https://sites.google.com/site/sfnhudsonberkshire/events/brain-bee.  To register on-line go to:  http://goo.gl/f8uLyp.  Competition date is February 24, 2018.  Informational session is December 9, 2017.

Free Speech Essay Contest:  for high school Juniors and Seniors.  Must submit an essay between 800 - 1,000 word on the provided topic.  Apply on-line at THEFIRE.ORG/CONTEST.  Deadline is December 31, 2017.

The Love of Running Scholarship:  must be a high school senior who resides in Columbia County and has participated for at least 2 years in Cross Country or Track & Field.  To apply on-line go to www.seansrun.com/sch1.htm.  Deadline to apply is December 1, 2017.

The Section II Good Sport Scholarship:  must be a high school senior who participated in the State Cross Country meet and were selected by Section II coaches as the Good Sportsmanship Award Winner.  To apply on-line go to www.seansrun.com/sch1.htm.  Deadline to apply is December 1, 2017.

Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation Scholarships:  6 scholarships available for the Hudson City School District.  Apply on-line at www.berkshiretaconic.org/scholarships then go to search scholarships by school district, then Columbia County, NY, and then choose the Hudson City School District.

Emma M. Kirchhofer Scholarship Fund:  for college bound high school seniors who are residents of Columbia County.  Apply by March 15, 2018.
   
Alice & Richard Henriquez Memorial Fund/Youth World Awareness Program:  available to  residents of the Berkshire Taconic region and who plan to travel internationally to work and live in a community and help promote international peace and justice.  Apply by February 1, 2018.

The Ferris Burtis Scholarship Fund:  graduating high school seniors of the Berkshire Taconic region who have been accepted in a conservatory or school of music for the fall term for the purpose of pursing a career in some form of classical music. Apply by March 15, 2018.

 Moe England '53/England Scott Family Scholarship Fund:  to a graduating high school senior who is a resident of the Berkshire Taconic region and planning to attend Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. Apply by March 15, 2018.

Moonlight Mile Scholarship Fund:  to women at least 18 years of age who are residents of Massachusetts or New York that are seeking matching funds to support travel or equipment needs for study or athletic competition, professional training, or support for alternative healing. Apply by March 15, 2018.

Simple Gifts Fund:  awards grants to young people ages 13-19 for participation in cultural or  creative summer programs.  Apply by March 15, 2018.
