Important Health Information Regarding Student Vaccination Requirements

(June 19, 2019) -- Please be advised of recent changes to school vaccination requirements for children. On June 13, 2019, state lawmakers passed an amendment that eliminates the exemption from vaccinations due to religious beliefs. Please contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible to make sure that your child has all the needed immunizations so they may continue attending school in September. Click here for more information about immunization requirements and how to provide proof of immunization.

End-of-Year Medication Pick Up

(May 1, 2019) -- The end of the school year is quickly approaching! Please remember to pick up your child’s medication in the health office BEFORE the last day of school (Wednesday, June 26, 2019).

It is not appropriate for us to keep medication at school over the summer – this includes inhalers and Epi-pens – so please pick up your child’s medication. Many of these medications are expensive, and we must dispose of any medication that is not picked up.

All medication left at school will be disposed of as of June 26, 2019, at the close of the school day for students, unless you make other arrangements with the school nurse (please note early dismissals during the last week of school). The school is not able to allow your child to bring the medication home. If you need to make special arrangements to pick up medication, please call prior to June 25th (518-828-4360).

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Important Vaccine Information

All public and private school students entering 7th and 12th grades must be vaccinated against meningococcal disease in order to attend school in New York State. Learn more about the meningococcal vaccine school requirement on the NYS Department of Health website, or download this one-page fact sheet

Students who are entering 6th grade (or a comparable age-level special education program) in September, and who are 11 years old or older, must receive a Tdap vaccine. The Tdap vaccine protects against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (whooping cough). If the student has received a Td, DT or DTAP vaccine in the last two years, the student should defer this vaccine at this time. You may discuss this vaccination schedule with your healthcare provider. If your student is 10 years old and entering 6th grade, they may receive a Tdap vaccine called Boostrix or they may wait until they turn 11 years old. Learn more about this vaccine requirement for schools on the NYS Department of Health website, or download this one-page fact sheet
