Public Relations Use of Student Photos

From time to time, school district officials may release student information (e.g., name, grade level, photograph, artwork, academic interest, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, terms of school attendance and graduation, awards received, future educational plans) for use in school district publications and within district web sites and district social media sites, or to the media for public relations purposes. We will never distribute private information such as addresses or phone numbers.

Parents/guardians who object to the release of their child’s name and/or photograph should notify their child’s building principal in writing on or before October 1 in any school year.

Reporting Child Abuse

New York’s Education Law requires each public school to post information about the Child Abuse Hotline number. If you suspect child abuse or maltreatment, do not wait to report it:

Call the New York State Office of Children and Family Services toll free at 1-800-342-3720

If you are deaf or hard of hearing, call TDD/TTY at 1-800-638-5163 or have your Video Relay System provider call 1-800-342-3720

If you believe that a child is in immediate danger, please call 911 or the local police department.

Community Sex Offender Information

From time to time the District receives notifications from law enforcement regarding the release of convicted sex offenders in the community. Should you wish to review this information, please contact the Hudson Police Department or Columbia County Sheriff's Office.


Request for Teacher or Principal Overall Score and Effectiveness Rating

In accordance with state law, all parents/guardians have the right to obtain the APPR quality ratings and composite effectiveness scores for each teacher and building principal their student is assigned to for the current school year. Only the overall composite score (0-100) and rating (Highly Effective, Effective, Developing, and Ineffective) will be provided.

To request this information the parent or legal guardian must complete one of the following request forms and submit it to Dr. Maria Suttmeier, Superintendent. The form must be mailed or delivered in person. No electronic copies will be accepted. The person making the request can expect to hear from Dr. Suttmeier within 15 school days of the official written request.

Public Notice of Financial Statements

Notice is hereby given that the fiscal affairs of the Hudson City School District for the period beginning on July 1, 2015 and ending on June 30, 2016, have been examined by an independent public accountant, and that the report of, or management letter prepared in conjunction with the external audit by the independent public accountant has been filed in my office where it is available as a public record for inspection by all interested persons.  Pursuant to §35 of the General Municipal law, the governing board of the Hudson City School District has, in its discretion, prepared a written response to the report of external audit or management letter by the independent public accountant and filed such response in my office as a public record for inspection by all interested persons.

Water Testing

In accordance with New York State law (S.8158/A.10740), the Hudson City School District routinely tests water in all school buildings for lead contamination and makes the results publicly available. Please visit our Water Testing webpage for more information about recent testing.
