Board of Education Starts Code of Conduct Committee

At its March 12, 2012, meeting the Hudson City School District Board of Education appointed board members Peter Meyer and Jeri Chapman to form a Code of Conduct Advisory Committee and tasked it with the job of evaluating the effectiveness of the district’s Code of Conduct

The Code is the school district's only student behavior law and the  most important document governing student discipline.

It stipulates that the board must "adopt and review, at least annually, the District's code of conduct to evaluate the code's effectiveness and the fairness and consistency of its implementation." It further states that the board "may appoint an advisory committee to assist in reviewing the code and the District's response to code of conduct violations. The committee will be made up of representatives of student, teacher, administrator, and parent organizations, school safety personnel and other school personnel."

Board member Meyer will be chairman of the committee; Ms. Chapman, co-chair.

The Board asked the advisory committee to deliver its report to the board in May.

Parents, staff, and community members interested in being on the committee should contact Mr. Meyer by email at  MeyerP@hudsoncityschooldistrict.com or by phone at  929.6505.

Says Meyer, "We hope to begin work no later than March 26.”
