ALP STUDENTS ATTEND YOUTH LEADERSHIP FORUM
Four ALP students attended the Youth Leadership Forum at Legislative Office Building on February 11th and 12th. The students attending are: Edwin Miller, Danielle Gilleo, Sarah Gough and Jheanelle Black. The Youth Forum is an opportunity for students throughout the entire state to meet and discuss concerns relevant to all schools. On Monday morning they had breakfast with Legislators from all districts of New York State and then are met with Assemblyman Marcus Molinaro to discuss government and youth issues relevant to all students.
A very special thanks to the Hudson Department of Youth and Youth Director Trudy Beicht. Ms. Beicht has been very supportive in giving many of our ALP students opportunities to participate in activities such as snow tubing, horse back riding, camping and snow boarding. Everyone in the ALP organization appreciates her efforts.

Students Work Together on Native American Presentation
Students in Mrs. Parmentier’s 4th grade class have been working with the 7th and 8th grade ALP computer students in the creation of a Native American PowerPoint presentation. The computer students have been creating slides for the presentation with the input from the 4th grade students on what they learned about the Native Americans. The computer students have
been showing the 4th grade students how to design and create slides by using pictures of their longhouses and including quotes about what they have learned. This collaborative project will soon be available for viewing upon its completion.

The Alternative Learning Program provides opportunity for Hudson City School District students to be successful in an alternative school setting. The school environment promotes tolerance of staff/student differences and fosters community spirit. Over the course of our first year, our students demonstrated their abilities both academically and behaviorally. Their success led to new motivation and hope for the future. Middle school and high school aged students can be referred through the guidance office.
